Not Sure It Was Worth It

I had another title for this post, but I'm not sure Greg would approve. You're welcome.

Back story: Claire's room is on the south side of the house, meaning it gets the south sun on warm days. We had such a day last week where she had a hard time napping in her warm room that I decided to beat the summer heat and install a fan in her room.

I joyfully load the kids in the car and go to Home Depot to pick up the new fixture. Things went downhill from there. Sof decided to throw a fit, which made me fly into a rage - all while sweet Claire sat contently in her little swing. I was taking the old light down and was so mad, I didn't take pictures of how the wires were connected - Big mistake.

Fast forward to 2.5 days later where I've called the fan many things I shouldn't repeat on this post, and the dang thing still won't work properly, meaning it would work, but I couldn't get it to work with the light switch. Turns out our house was built 1 year before building code was even a thing. Lovely.

Anyway, I eventually let go of my pride and called a guy in the ward who had offered to help a few days earlier, when I borrowed his voltage tester after being shocked 3 times (one which almost knocked me off my stool, another cause for bad words).

He wasn't able to get the fan connected, so he called in "the reinforcements" as he called him - a professional electrician in the ward just down the street, who had things fixed in no time. And, he fixed the wiring in the fan in our room, because apparently that was wired backwards too. Go figure.

Word to the wise: take pictures of the wiring in fixtures before completely removing them, to save yourself a world of hurt. Also, possibly try to avoid ripping a light out of the ceiling if your two year old is screaming at the top of her lungs in the room next door.

The End.

And yes, the room is still green.

27

I'm old. Officially. Like, really.

27 is the year that I officially feel old, and I don't like it one bit.

However, Greggy sure made the day fun and I was pampered, so turning older may have been worth it.

Cute Greggy was ready to party when we got home Saturday.
Claire is hilarious and does not like the bumbo. She will arch as far as she can to try and get out of it.
We went to Boondocks to bowl for free, but the wait was so long we ended up just putting $5 on an arcade card and playing on the rides.
Claire's new thing - leaving her tongue hanging out All. Day. Long.
Baby food - she's not convinced.
We woke to 5" of snow Sunday, which I didn't have to shovel. Horray! Greg made yummy stuffed peppers for dinner and made me an awesome from scratch Lemon-lime (cornmeal) cake.We didn't have cake flour, so instead of adding corn starch to the regular flour like Google said, Greg added corn meal. It was dense, and so good I ate the entire thing (literally). It took me a couple of days, but that baby was all mine!

New Cousins and Fun with Family

My sister had her cute new baby girl a month ago, and I wanted to see her while she was still relatively "new," so the girls and I packed the car and took a get-away to Cedar for a few days, allowing Greg to work like a crazy person (Literally, he would only come home to sleep 7 hours). We chose the coldest and windiest weekend ever to travel south, but that is okay because there was plenty of food and movies where we were at. Really, we were just happy to be around people.

Crazy what 4.5 months can do. Claire is huge!
I am reminded every time I drive the little highways in southern Utah how much I miss these roads!
She loved playing in this trailer! My little redneck.
Yes, she is having avocado and oatmeal for dinner, thanks for asking.
Sleeping in her princess bed.
Ice cream at McDonald's. We scored a free hot fudge sundae.
She climbed in where the basketballs come out.
Such a good influence.
My mom gave us this fun tunnel. Katy looks like the cat in the sleeve on Cinderella.
Movie night.
She started to sleep so good at night while at my parents, and luckily the trend has continued since coming home.
My mom has really tall cabinets in her house and can always be found climbing on the counters to get things. Sof was happy to follow her example.
Playing with Shelby and her cute friend Megan. She didn't bug me for a whole hour!
We went to Shelby's cello festival while down there and she was so good!! Sof sat and watched very attentively and has since told me she wants to play the cello. This is in the band room in my Middle School. I haven't been there for 13 years - 1/2 my life ago :S.
She was in the basement yelling "Help!" and it turns out she had climbed into this thing and got stuck.
Katy finally got around to holding Claire. I think that's the 3rd time since she's been born.

MaKaty has the prettiest dress and cute Sof started singing this song all by herself right before we left. Sooooo cute! I love her little voice.

All packed and ready to go (I wish I had zoomed in on Claire's cute face). We're coming for you Greggy!!

February Fun

Here's a quick recap of our February adventures. Winter decided to be winter again, so much of our time was spent inside.

I found her like this. She lives the dream.
Refusing to pose.
Claire's first time on a blanket in the sun. She wasn't sure what to do.
In Greg's words, "Her only defense was to lay there like a slug."
My little helper. She loves to put the utensils away.
After nap snack of peanut butter cookies (sooooooo good!) with milk.
Climbing the hill all by herself.
Walking in the freezing sand. I kept my shoes on.
She has the cutest little eyes!
The Super Bowl. Sof was thrilled to eat dinner in front of the TV.
Even Claire stopped wiggling to watch Justin Timberlake.
Poor chubby Claire. This is as flexible as she gets, while Sof can still put her feet behind her head.
Our sweet KSL find. We've used it once.
I HATE Claire's green room. Hate it! So, letting Sof paint the walls was my motivation to get it painted faster. Yes, it is still green. I have high hopes for March!
We have beautiful sunsets!
We pulled up to the park one day wondering where everyone was. I didn't check the weather before packing a lunch for the park. One bite in and Sofi declared she was freezing, so we finished eating lunch in Target.
Valentines has been changed to Gal-entines around our house. Suffice it to say, we survived the day.
The day was beautiful, so Sof and I baked cookies to take around the neighborhood.
She is seriously the cutest!!! I keep hoping she chunks up even more in time for summer rompers!
fruit loop necklaces
This happens a lot around here - Claire falling over. She'll develop abs one day.

Grandma Kathy gave us her chair, and Sof has proudly taken over.
I started Claire on solids. She's not as enthusiastic as I thought she would be.
Princess Belle earning her keep
She gets stuck every time. Sof has to help pull the bumbo off.
Princess Greggy sitting on his "new" couch.
She was surrounded!
Our happy, roley poley 5 month old! Coming in at a whopping 16.5 lbs and I'm-not-sure inches.
Twins!

I'm motivated to exercise more, so I pulled up an exercise video one day and Sof joined me. She was thrilled to match me in her pink clothes, shoes, and ponytail. Girls are so fun!
She's discovered the skwish.
We went to brunch on Ihop's free pancake day with friends.
Claire sucked this pouch dry.
And Sof ate 3 pancakes!
Proof she's getting stronger!
Poor Claire. Sometimes Sof is a little too helpful.
