Our Trip to Cedar City

We spent a few days in Cedar City and found time to have some fun among the crazy.

My sister came over from Minversville and I sacrificed Sof's nap one afternoon to go with her to get baby chicks. It was worth it. They were adorable!

The bunnies were her favorite.
Learning how to take clothes off - thanks to her keen observation of cousins
Yes, she had two bowls of ice cream that night (she stole mine).
She took 4+ hour naps on the days she did nap. It was amazing!!! She played hard.
One night we went to Sizzler. Sof was in buffet heaven. She pounded a pile of pepperoni's like it was nobody's bidness!
My mom loves this cat so much ... :)
Sof trying to escape the dressing room of one miserable shopping trip. Me too baby girl!
That smile says it all!! Grandma bought her a puppy purse for an early bday present and one week later she still takes it everywhere we go.
Action shot
There is a fun little park right next to my parent's house. We love it there!
Sofi found this baby carrier one day and drug it with her everywhere. She even took it on a car ride. My smart girl! :)

We ended up leaving to come back to Bountiful Sunday instead of Monday. This cute reunion right here was all worth it!

It's trips right here during busy season that helps rekindle the love between all of us. Greg missed us and we missed having a place of our own. It's a win-win for all.

Taking A Break in Minersville

Sof and I embarked south yesterday to spend some time with my family. She is such a champ while traveling. As long as I have packed adequate movies, snacks, books, crayons/paper/stickers, she is happy, which is a miracle because this girl no longer naps in the car. Ever.

She is featured here reading herself Friendly Farm.
Still smiling :)

We stopped in Minersville to see my sister and her cute boys (it is 20 miles west of Beaver for those of you who don't know). She just moved into a "newer" house and I wanted to check it out. Plus, Sof was really wanting to see "Ridgie."

Playing on the floor at the one and only gas station.
Cute Sof. I bought me a Frazil and she took it upon herself to drink 3/4 of it.
I love this pic! Both babes frantically slurping their Frazil's.
Jess took us on a tour of the town in her Rhino. Sof helped drive. Yes, Sof has inherited Greg's facial expressions.
Everyone in my family has a kitty, except us. Poor Sof. Your time will come sweet girl.

She loved this table. Can you blame her? (NOTICE HER KITTY SHIRT!!! Yes, it has a flower crown).

Every time I spend time in a small town, I remember how much I miss them! There is just something about being away from the hubbub of big cities that causes you to realize there are more important things. The people are friendlier, life seems simpler, and the animals more plentiful. I was made for small towns! I will live in a small town. It will happen.

A Day For Me :)

I love my birthday - always have. It is the one day all about me without having to sound selfish, and you better believe I milk it for all it's worth. I threatened Greggy with all of his future happiness that he would be there Saturday, all day, without working. Well, my threats took effect. He woke up and worked early from 6:00-8:30. It was a lovely morning. Sofi and I both slept in, and cute Greggy made us breakfast. It was delish!

After Greg had made my cake, with the help of Sofi, we all got ready and spent the morning at the Zoo. It was so much fun! The animals were all active and it wasn't too cold. Perfect March birthday weather.

This little guy was the best. His tail was SOOOOOOO long! He would eat breakfast up on his perch, then climb the two stories down to get more food, fill his hands and mouth, then climb all the way back up again.
We found some peacocks.
This poor gorilla. He was sleeping there in the corner, with a blanket on, and kept pulling it over his head.
Super unflattering picture of this lady, but we were able to see them do the physical checks on the elephants. Those animals are so smart!
We got to ride the carousel! I kept wondering whose birthday we were really celebrating. Mine or hers ...
Sofi loved the sea lions

Greg was so exhausted from actually walking around instead of being stuck in a cubicle, that he had to come home and take a nap. You better believe I got a picture. :)

We went to The Old Spaghetti Factory for my birthday, and it was SOOOOOOO good! (We would eat there the night before all 4 State XC Meets in high school, so it was fun to be back and reminisce the good 'ole days). Sofi ate her noodles, I ate my lasagna, and Greg at his Vesuvius(?) Spaghetti. We were all so full, that we didn't eat cake and ice cream until the next day.

I am now 26 years old. Officially closer to being 30 than 20. I find myself wondering where my 20's have gone, but I get the feeling that the older I get, the more I will wonder where time is going. I am so grateful to be able to spend it was people I love; my sweet little Sofia Lu and loving hubbers Greggy. He knows how much I love birthdays and he always makes them feel special. 1 week later, and we are still enjoying the cake he made. I will always love this day.

A Break from the Mundane

We were in charge of Greg's niece and nephews last week, and it was actually a lot of fun. Sofi loved following the big kids around, and I loved living in a house. All good things come to those who wait. The kids for the most part were really well behaved, and it was fun to have human interaction. Tax Season is starting to take it's toll on all of us.

Eating lunch, excited to go "See Toby"

Sofia and Sam were quite the little buddies. He was so cute with her! He would help her down the stairs, hold her hand while walking into the other room, and took time to ask her why she was crying. He made her laugh lots. It was awesome.

Making calls
This piano = LOVE
She was so happy to be able to watch Princess Sofia while eating lunch.
Becoming quite the pro on the tramp. She can now jump and get both feet in the air. Huzzah!
Sofi loved to just sit in the van. She would walk up to it and say, "Go on drive." It will forever be a mystery to me why she loves the mini van.

We were invited to stay for dinner while Mark made homemade pigs in a blanket. I was actually very impressed and they ended up tasting pretty good. We take any advantage we can to eat meals with people around here.

One of the big kids
We are survivors! And luckily the kids are too. It was fun to talk with Megan (when I actually saw her. That girl is busy!), boss Max around, and make Sam eat his meals. Sof loved "living" with her cousins and running around like a crazy person. There are worse ways to spend a few days :).
