That one day we took the Girls skiing ...

Greg was able to find a Saturday in March that didn't require him to go into the office to work, and my parent's just so happened to be up north that same weekend, so we arranged for my Mom to watch Quincey while Greg and I took the girls skiing for the first time that afternoon.

It turns out that kids are free to ski at Nordic, so we spent the day there, and it was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day! It's amazing how the mood lifts when you leave the valley inversion. The sun was HOT and we got fried. 1000% worth it!

We inherited the cutest ski's from April and Toby (Thank you!) and we practiced with the girls on how to stop and go. Sofi had been practicing on her roller blades, so we weren't too concerned about her, and she actually was a natural! She loved going up and down on the magic carpet area.

Claire was a different story. Girlfriend went limp from the first minute and was an absolute mess. But, the longer we worked with her, and after she got some fries in her (that's another story), she perked right up and was ready for the big hill.

Melting Claire. She was on her back more than she was standing on her ski's. The poor person running the Magic Carpet knew to slow and/or stop it when they saw us coming. Bless everyone else behind us - Claire is hilarious. Or at least we can laugh about it now, 7 months later :).
It's so funny how one kid was acting like this ....
And the other one was having the time of her life. But, that's usually how it goes.
It was the first time any of us had felt temperatures in the 30's, and we got FRIED! All of us. We had church the next day and everyone who saw us had the comment, "Looks like you've been somewhere fun," because of our Racoon eyes. My favorite though, is Greg's forehead. He had that rainbow stripe on his face for months. The poor guy, which meant I would look at him and laugh for months.

He's used to it. Love you, Greggy!

We had such a fun day! Quincey behaved (mostly) for Grandma Jan. Remember that she was in a major stranger-danger phase and had no clue who Grandma Jan was. But, they came to get along and my Mom had a lot of fun with her.

Cue Claire, at 2:30ish that following morning, complaining of a stomach ache, then proceeded to throw up consistently every 10 minutes for the next couple of hours. Poor girl! We blamed the fries she ate at Nordic. When Claire gets sick, she gets sick! But, she eventually recovered, and we were in the all-clear to go skiing again, but avoided getting fries. It didn't end well for anyone.
