Peach Days 2017, Baby Shower, and Luau

Even though I was 37 weeks pregnant, we weren't going to miss our little tradition of going to Peach Days up in Brigham City. Sof was so excited to ride the Carousel ("go up and down all by 'self") and Greg couldn't wait for the peach shakes at Peach City. It's fun to have something to look forward to each September.

Neither one of us had any cash, and Greg couldn't bring himself to pay $3 for the ATM fee's, so I dragged my pregnant body up the block in search of a credit union - which we found. Sof got a sucker, we got $10, and Greg saved $3 on fees. Seems like everyone but me wins.

She was in heaven!
Then she saw these bad boys ...
Waiting for 30+ minutes at Peach City. It was worth it i just for the shakes.
Sof's pic of Greg. Not too bad.
Then our selfie. Not quite sure what either one of us are looking at.

After eating lunch, we raced home so Sof could take a much needed nap, and I could run off to a baby shower some friends had planned. There are 4 girls having babies within 1 month of each other in our ward, so we had a multi-mom shower, and it actually turned out better than I expected. Despite the drama the apartments we've been managing may have caused, we sure have made some great friends here.

Everyone but me looking. Go figure.
My awesome friends! Just as a side-note, I'm the only one pregnant in this pic (it confused my mom).

When we first moved to Bountiful, the Tongan ward in our Stake put on an awesome Luau. They didn't do one last year, so you better believe we weren't going to miss it when they announced they were doing it again this year. Sof was so excited to meet Moana and Greg was excited for the unlimited amounts of food the Tongan people serve. It didn't end up being as good as the first year, but it was still pretty good.

I didn't get a picture of it, but Sof wandered over to the dancers while Greg and I ate our dinner (because she refuses to eat food lately) and she was shaking her cute little hips to the music. I also didn't get a picture of her meeting Moana, but that sure made her night!

She was enjoying the dancers, I promise.
Watching the entertainers dance. She was patiently waiting for it to be "her turn."

One Last Hurrah

Sof and I just took our last trip to Cedar before we add little sister to our family. She can officially keep herself occupied in the backseat for 3.5 hours as long as she is watching a movie or playing on my phone. I can't decide whether to be saddened by the fact that she's obsessed with technology or happy that it will come in handy once a newborn arrives.

We stopped in Minersville to visit my sister and her kids before they left for Disneyland - lucky dogs!
Smashing ants
Jumping on the fancy new tramp, since Greg broke the old one.
Crazy tramp hair
They have finally landscaped the temple and is is beautiful!! Sof insisted we determined to go on a Ranger ride every day.
She also insisted she sleep on Grandma's 'big girl' bed.
And she slept great!
This picture kills me. Whenever Greg looks down, his eyes disappear behind his massive eyebrows and makes him look like a muppet. It gets me every time.
Sof lately has been obsessed with Monsters University and was so excited to wear the same hat as Mike 'Wikowski'
On our last night there, my little sister Katy treated us all to ice cream at the place she works. I thought it would be okay to keep Sof up a little later. Little did I know she wouldn't fall asleep until 10:30 pm ...

We had fun, and were energized by being around family. Now it's back to packing and trying to get everything ready for the big move here in 2-3 weeks. Oh and the baby. It's a tossup to see what will make the debut first, the house or the baby ... Oh did I forget to mention WE BOUGHT A HOUSE?!?!

Sofi is Potty Trained!!

I finally got around to being serious about potty training Sofi - and it almost ended our relationship. Seriously. I started on a Thursday, which had really great results that first day, then I laxed off Friday and Saturday because we have places to be, and Sunday was just a disaster so we gave up. By Monday I was determined again, but by Wednesday was ready to disown my child. Luckily, Greg came to the rescue and cracked the whip. After spending time with her Daddy, something in Sofi seemed to click (or break) and we started seeing results. As of this day, she is potty trained. It is miraculous!

The hard thing about Sofi, is the fact that she cannot be bribed. After trying to coax her with root beer, chocolate, all kinds of juice and sweets, she was no more hydrated than usual (smart girl), so we just kept at it as best as we could. It's hard to potty train a toddler who only pees 4 times a day (TMI?).

Sofi is indeed my child and fights change as much as I do, so I don't blame her for trying to avoid being potty trained - it's what I would have done. But, we prevailed and are 1 step closer to being semi-ready for baby sister. Huzzah!

Fun at Bear Lake

We've been anticipating our stay at a Bear Lake cabin with Greg's entire Spjute family and it did not disappoint! We played hard and ate good food - 2 things that are a common factor in these type of gatherings. Sofi couldn't get enough of her cousins and thrived in the environment. She has become quite the vocalist and loves telling people what to do. She is going to make a great older sister.

On our way to Bear Lake, we planned to stop and eat dinner at our old favorite spot, Cafe Sabor. It's in the old Logan train station and it was fun to see a giant train parked there.

The cabin we stayed at had such a fun yard: Volleyball court, swing set, slide off the deck, hot tub, and a hill to roll down. Sof never got tired of running racing her cousins up the hill.

The room we were staying in had a bunk bed for all 3 of us to share. Sof slept on the top bunk every night and loved it! I think a bunk bed may be in her future. Sadly, Greg and I didn't sleep so good on the bottom. We each took turns sleeping on the floor each night, it was that bad.

Every morning: "Daddy!" And stick her head over the rail.

Wednesday morning we all caravaned to the ice caves up in Idaho. It was about a 40 minute drive, and not everyone found the actual ice caves. And, it was freezing! If you look, you can see ice under the planks we walked on.

Patiently waiting for our Raspberry shakes BEFORE dinner :)
We celebrated 3 birthday's this week.

This girl sure loves Beanie
Grandma and Grandpa busted out the glow sticks one night. It was awesome!

We happened to be up at Bear Lake during the week of Raspberry Days. Thursday was the day for the parade and the party just seemed to keep on going.

Getting her Dory Tattoo

Lately Sofi has been really into Dory and Finding Nemo, so these tattoo's were perfect! She was so excited.

Greg's dad had the hookups and scored us a private beach from someone in his ward. There was pretty much no beach anywhere else because the lake was so high, so it was awesome to have a place all to ourselves complete with boats, paddle boards, and this random snowmobile.

She lives the dream!
We took this little beaut out a couple times. Sof wasn't so sure, but she didn't complain either.
We were lucky enough to get this girl to nap every day. You know she's tired when she falls asleep in 2 minutes flat in a new place.

The Raspberry Days parade was Thursday night, and it was pretty awesome - just like any other small town parade. They threw out a bunch of things: beach balls, hula hoops, mini shakes, otter pops, and Greg's sister even scored chips and salsa (something he is still talking about).

During all of the crazy, we found time to snap a picture of the entire family (I'm thrilled you can't see my pregnant belly). Sof was being a ham and looking everywhere but at the camera, but luckily she has a cute profile so it will do.

Friday we woke early enough to eat breakfast (Sofi had mush every morning), pack, and play outside on this awesome swing set. All Spjute's were of the same mind and everyone left pretty early.

We sure had fun!

The day we got back, Sofi took a 3.5 hr nap and was still onry enough to go to bed 1.5 hr later and sleep another 13 hours. She had fun and played hard. It's gatherings like this that realize I sure lucked out in the in-law department. It's good to know that no matter what, we will always have fun.
